With 1,000 from law enforcement, and hundreds more kids, long-running ‘Conference seeks to prevent crime’

June 19th · 1 Comment · South Florida Times

The South Florida Times has my report on the encouraging 25th annual National Conference on Preventing Crime in the Black Community.

The conference again was packed with productive workshops, thanks to Dan Gilmore, the attorney general office’s designated staff person for organizing and implementing the event, and retired Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Lt. Beverly Morrison.

Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum.

Kudo’s to C.B. Hanif for taking the time to report on this conference. The 25th Anniversary was a hugh success. The presenters were exceptional and very informative. The 300-400 youth in attendance were well behaved and reported learning a lot to share with their communities and schools. The teen listening summit should have been recorded and made available to all schools in the State as the youth talked about issues affecting them on a daily basis while the adults “listened” in awe. I can’t wait until next year in Miami. Again, my thanks to Mr. Hanif for reporting on this conference.
